Formation of convective plumes from a locally heating source in water【Conference2021発表資料】

概要
The progression of convection pattern from several small heating sources in water is numerically investigated. This research considers a three-dimensional model containing a quartz cuvette with distilled water and a number of heat sources induced by electromagnetic induction, such as rectangular and circular plates. Energy and momentum equations for convective region are solved with a two-ways coupling between heat transfer and laminar flow. It is shown that the structure of the thermal plumes strongly depends on the heat generation rate and the heater geometry. The results are compared with those inferred from the near-infrared imaging technique.
